Position Overview:
BLN24 is seeking a motivated Junior Full Stack Developer to join our delivery team supporting the Census Bureau. In this role, you will work closely with senior engineers to build, test, and maintain applications that deliver critical economic data to the public. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career developer to gain hands-on experience across the full stack from backend services to user-facing web applications while contributing to a high-impact federal mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of applications using Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Support frontend development with frameworks such as Vue.js and modern UI libraries.
- Write, test, and debug SQL queries in PostgreSQL.
- Contribute to application deployment and troubleshooting in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Collaborate with senior developers, analysts, and product teams to translate requirements into working solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and technical documentation.
- Learn and apply secure coding practices and contribute to application performance optimization.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent education/experience; ongoing degree candidates considered).
- Up to 2 years of academic, internship, or professional software development experience.
- Familiarity with Python and at least one frontend framework (Vue, React, or Angular).
- Basic understanding of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Exposure to Linux-based environments (RHEL or similar).
- Knowledge of version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Strong problem-solving ability, eagerness to learn, and good communication skills.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with RESTful APIs and web services.
- Familiarity with data visualization libraries (D3.js, OpenLayers, or similar).
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and/or containerization tools (Docker, Podman, etc.).
- Interest in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
